When the French convent burns down, 12-year-old orphan Lisette barely escapes. Fleeing the drudgery of lacemaking, she sets out alone to find a long-lost uncle. Given the opportunity to escape her troubles in France, resourceful Lisette becomes an indentured servant at the Fortress of Louisbourg. But is someone following her?
