About Our Board

Each spring the CCBC recruits new members to join our Board of Directors. 

If you are passionate about Canadian children’s books and can bring experiences, ideas, and energy to the role, you may be a fit for our board! Check out our newsletter and social media for announcements once recruitment is open. 

Qualifications

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. They must also be a member of the CCBC, or within 30 days of notice of appointment become a member.

Qualities we look for in a potential board member include:

  • strong belief in and commitment to the mission and goals of the CCBC
  • an ability to work collaboratively
  • able to commit to giving time and energy to the organization
  • a background in children’s publishing, fundraising, legal, marketing/social media, education, library sciences, arts and/or culture preferred
  • previous governance experience preferred, but not necessary
  • we aim for regional diversity and encourage candidates from across Canada

The Canadian Children's Book Centre affirms its commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion. Time Commitment

  • 4-6 board meetings annually; 3-4 hours a month
  • The CCBC Board has 3 standing committees of Governance, Finance and Fundraising that meet 2-3 times per year
  • Travel is not required, as most activities are done remotely
