What is your favourite Canadian kids’ book?

2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC). To celebrate and to build excitement for reading Canadian kids’ books, we have released the ultimate 50 Must Read Canadian Picture Books list. Our list features 50 inspiring titles that have played a role in the CCBC's history and are near and dear to us. 

We know you are thinking, "What about... [insert your favourite title here]???" And that is the idea! 

Now we invite you to vote for your favourites! 

Step 1: Make a Donation  

We suggest $50 — $1 for each year we have been promoting Canadian kids’ books, but please give according to your ability. All funds go to our programs and activities.

Step 2: Nominate up to four of your favourite Canadian kids’ books (ages 0-18)

Step 3: Share your votes on your social media platforms (if you have them) and encourage others to vote as well! Tag @kidsbookcentre and use #CDNFavKidsBooks 

Vote with your heart and support a wonderful cause—the celebration of reading Canadian!

Throughout the year, we will gather votes and in January 2027 we will share Canada’s 50 Favourite Kids’ Books.
