Since we formed the CCBC in 1976, we’ve been committed to the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to develop a love of reading.

For Canadian children to fully engage with literature, it’s vital that they see themselves in the books they read. That’s why we’re determined to make Canadian books as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Our TD Grade One Book Giveaway provides books to Grade 1 students across Canada. Since starting this program over 20 years ago, we’ve distributed over 12 million books.

Book Week brings touring creators to schools and libraries across the country. It’s the largest children’s literary festival in Canada, reaching approximately 28,000 students each year.

Our book awards provide $175,000 to Canadian creators each year across nine unique awards. This program is essential for growing a national ecosystem of quality children’s books.

Contributions over $1,000

Sponsors who contribute $1,000 or more are acknowledged as supporters on our website and interviewed in our monthly newsletter.

Presenting Sponsors

Organizations that sponsor to a large portion of a given program are recognized as Presenting Sponsors. They are acknowledged in all program-related advertising and promotions, including on our website, social media, and in a media release.

Canadian Children’s Book Week

Touring creators speak to audiences about the delights of reading Canadian children’s books, and offer an inside look into their own work. These workshops and presentations can be a turning point in a child’s life, inspiring a lifelong love of reading.

  • Over 30 authors, illustrators, and storytellers tour across every province and territory.
  • 28,000 young Canadians participate and get a chance to meet authors and illustrators across Canada.
  • Over 400 readings and workshops occur throughout the week.


Bibliovideo

Our YouTube channel, Bibliovideo, is the destination for anyone who wants to learn about great Canadian books for young people. At Bibliovideo, you will find:

  • Webinars and live events with Canadian creators and publishers.
  • Story time videos and read-alongs of quality Canadian children’s books.
  • Weekly video segments covering new releases and developments in the world of Canadian children’s books.
  • French- and Indigenous-language videos to ensure all Canadians can enjoy our content.
