Description
Hyperorganized perfectionist Beatrice More is determined to plan a spectacularly professional birthday party for her little sister, Sophie.
But she is foiled at every turn: her mother insists on making a homemade cake (disaster!), her father offers up discount mismatched decorations (debacle!), guests are hard to find in their new neighborhood (dire!), and no gift seems remotely special enough (defeated!). Author Bio
Alison Hughes is an award-winning author of many books for children and young adults, including The Silence Slips In, winner of the R. Ross Annett Award for Children’s Literature and Hit the Ground Running, a nominee for the Governor General's Literary Award. Her books have been nominated eleven times for children’s choice awards across Canada, and her short stories have appeared in anthologies and have been finalists for the CBC Nonfiction Prize and the Writers’ Union of Canada Short Fiction Competition. She works as a writing advisor and editor at the University of Alberta and writes to the accompaniment of snoring dogs. She lives in Edmonton with her family.
Helen Flook was born and grew up in the beautiful countryside of Wales. She has a Degree in Graphic Design from the Norwich School of Art. Helen has illustrated numerous children's books, including many Orca picture books and early chapter books in the Orca Echoes series. She lives and works in Abergwyngregyn, a village in Wales.
