Description
When Sam’s grandmother tells him she’s going away for the winter, Sam is worried.
What about all the time they usually spend together baking, drinking hot chocolate and building snow forts? Grandma assures him she’ll send postcards, but postcards aren’t the same as hugs! Grandma knows the answer: she can send a hug on the wind. And if there’s no hint of a breeze? Then she can find a beam of sunshine and send her hug with that. And in the rain? Grandma will send kisses in the raindrops. With each new concern, Grandma promises Sam that she’ll find a way to send her love to him. Sam feels better, realizing that no matter how far his grandma is, her love will always be there.

Author Bio
Robin Stevenson is the author of more than thirty books for kids and teens, including Pride Puppy!, Pride Colors and Kid Activists: True Tales of Childhood from Champions of Change. The first edition of her nonfiction book Pride: Celebrating Diversity & Community (2016) won a Stonewall Honor and was shortlisted for numerous other awards. In 2023, she was awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Literary Excellence in British Columbia. Robin lives on Vancouver Island.
Kristina Jones is an accomplished illustrator known for her whimsical creative style and passion for the wonder and magic of nature. With a Bachelor of Arts in illustration and design from the University of Hertfordshire, she brings a wealth of knowledge and artistic expertise to her work. Her debut picture book, The Amazing African Animal Alphabet, earned her a nomination for the respected IBBY SA Picture Book Illustrator Award in 2019. Kristina resides in Creston, British Columbia.

Robin Stevenson is the author of more than 30 books, ranging from picture books to young adult novels and including both fiction and non-fiction. Robin’s books have won the Silver Birch Award, the Sheila A. Egoff Prize and a Stonewall Honor, and have been finalists for the Governor General’s Literary Awards, the Lambda Literary Awards and many readers’ choice awards. In 2023, she was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence. Robin is a former social worker and crisis counsellor and has also taught creative writing and worked as a freelance editor. She lives on Vancouver Island with her family.
