Apply to Host

If you have an audience of kids or teens who want to be inspired by creators of great books, you could be the perfect host for a Book Week event! Hosts get the chance to have in-depth discussions with one of Canada’s talented authors or illustrators.

Here’s who can apply to host a Canadian creator for our upcoming Book Week tour:

  • Schools
  • Family centres
  • Public libraries
  • Homeschooling associations
  • Community groups
  • Other organizations involved with Canadian youth books and literacy
  • Literacy Networks

NOTE: Book Week 2026 will take place in a hybrid format with creators touring  in person, virtually, or a combination of both.

Eligibility

All Canadian schools, libraries, bookstores, community centres, and community organizations are eligible to apply to host a Book Week visit.

Applications for Canadian Children's Book Week, April 26 - May 2, 2026 

You can apply now to host an author or illustrator touring during Book Week 2026. 

IN-PERSON VISITS: Your province or territory's application can be accessed from the Book Week profile pages of the authors/illustrators touring in-person in your region.

VIRTUAL VISITS: Five authors/illustrators will be touring virtually for Book Week and there is a separate application to submit to request visits with these presenters.

The application deadline is January 30, 2026.
