Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Children's Book Centre

The Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 1-2:30 pm EDT. Join us for a year in review, learn about our current programming for 2025 and meet our incoming board members. Members* in good standing and the public are welcome to attend.

The 2025 nominations to the CCBC Board of Directors are:

Sarabeth Holden is an Inuit children’s book author and a small business owner. She is an active member of the Indigenous and Canadian Curatorial Committee at the Art Gallery of Ontario. (Toronto, ON)

Karen Millard is a lawyer and corporate consultant with over 25 years' experience specializing in employee benefits, disability management & supports, and insurance program design & governance. (Toronto, ON)

Sheila Rider is an HR leader with over 30 years of experience across industries and is active in coaching and advising leaders and teams to understand great work and delivering results. (Toronto, ON)

Dr. Kim Stewart is a former elementary teacher, principal, district literacy coordinator, and presently an associate professor with the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick. She has over 35 years of experience encouraging, promoting and supporting readers, writers, and illustrators in classrooms. (Fredericton, NB)

This year's AGM will feature guest speaker Patti McIntosh. Patti is the President of IBBY Canada. For the first time, Canada will host the 40th IBBY World Congress in Ottawa from August 6-9, 2026. The theme for Congress is Listening to Each Other’s Voices / Écouter la voix de l’autre / Pizindàdidà Ekidong. Patti will share a preview of the exciting Congress programming and activities planned as IBBY Canada prepares to welcome the world of children's literature to Canada.

*Members are reminded that they may appoint a proxy to attend the Annual General Meeting on their behalf. Any such appointment must be evidenced by a document in writing, signed by the member and received by the CCBC no later than June 9.
