Speaking of exceptional work, we also want to recognize all teachers, librarians, support staff, administrators, counsellors, and more who are back in schools this month. Annick Press's Mentorship Program is supporting writers who have been historically excluded from publishing. Applications for 2026–27 are now open! The deadline to apply for this round of the program is September 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm ET.  

DC Canada's 2026 Children's Writing Contest is back. Every few years, DC Canada holds a writing contest for kids across the nation. The top 30 or so stories will be published in an illustrated storybook and the top three winners in each category will also receive a cash prize. Learn more about the contest.
