May 2026 Newsletter

From April 26th to May 2nd we celebrated Canadian Children’s Book Week 2026. This year, 27 Canadian creators gave 178 presentations. Over 10,000 Canadian kids and teens had the chance to participate! None of this could have happened without generous support from sponsors, funders, and donors—thank you!

The 2026 Book Week theme was “This Is Our Home, These Are Our Stories." As the Book Centre celebrates its 50th anniversary, we’ve been looking back with enormous pride at the amazing stories to come out of Canada. We recently shared our list of 50 Must Read Canadian Picture Books. And now we’re launching a new fundraising campaign, inviting Canadians to donate and nominate their favourite Canadian kids’ books.Book Week 20265 Thank You Banner
