In memoriam: Norma Charles

It is with great sadness that we share with you that children's book author Norma Charles passed away on August 19 after an illness.

Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Norma moved to the west coast when she was a young child. As a youth, she became an avid reader, spending her Saturday's at the library. Upon graduating from the University of British Columbia, Norma started her career in teaching. After several years, she left teaching to raise her family, where she passed on her love of books to her four children and where her writing career began. When her youngest started school, she returned to teaching as a teacher-librarian, a role she held for 20 years. When she retired, she started writing full time. Norma published 22 books throughout career, with her most recent picture book, The One and Only Question, co-authored with her daughter Andrea Charles, releasing this past spring.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Norma's family and friends.
