FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (June 2, 2025)—IBBY Canada is delighted to announce that the Call for Papers for the 40th IBBY World Congress in Ottawa will open on June 1, 2025 and close on November 1, 2025.
The Congress theme of “Listening to Each Other’s Voices” will be explored through a curated programme of keynote speakers, workshops, and exhibitions—as well as presentations, roundtables, and poster sessions programmed through an international Call for Papers.
Congress participants are encouraged to submit an oral presentation (maximum 15 minutes), a panel presentation (3-4 papers, 11-15 minutes each, 45 minutes total), a roundtable (a discussion with a moderator and two or more participants), or a poster presentation (a visual display to engage attendees in informal discussion).
The subject matter should relate to the conference theme and at least one of the following topics in children’s and/or YA literature: Disability; BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour); Migrants/Immigrants/Refugees/Citizenship; Mental Health; Gender/Sex/Sexuality; and Sustainability.

Selected presenters will to join an illustrious and wide-ranging lineup of keynote speakers, including author/illustrator Sydney Smith, the 2024 Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustrator winner; author David A. Robertson, IBBY Canada’s 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Award for Writer nominee; Khodi Dill, author, anti-racism educator, and spoken-word artist; Evelyn Arizpe, Professor of Children’s Literature at University of Glasgow; Fikile Nxumalo, Associate Professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto; and Hasmig Chahinian, National Centre for Children’s Literature at the French National Library.
The 40th IBBY World Congress will be held in Ottawa, Ontario from August 6-9, 2026. IBBY Canada looks forward to welcoming the world of children’s books to Canada with over 350 national and international IBBY friends and colleagues visiting Ottawa, Canada’s national capital, for four days of connection, culture, and celebration.

IBBY Canada annonce l’Appel à communications pour le 40e Congrès mondial IBBY
POUR PUBLICATION IMMEDIATE (2 juin 2025)—IBBY Canada a le plaisir d’annoncer que l’Appel à communications pour le 40e Congrès mondial IBBY sera ouvert du 1er juin 2025 jusqu’au 1er novembre 2025. Le thème du congrès “Écouter la voix de l’autre” sera conçu grâce à un programme soigneusement choisi avec des conférenciers principaux, des ateliers et des expositions- de même que des présentations, des tables rondes et des séances d’affiches qui seront programmées grâce à un Appel à communications international.
Nous encourageons les participants au Congrès à soumettre une présentation orale (maximum de 15 minutes), un panel de discussion (3 ou 4 propositions de 11 à 15 minutes chacune pour un total de 45 minutes), une table ronde (une discussion avec un modérateur et deux ou plusieurs participants), ou une séance d’affiche (une présentation visuelle qui permet d’interagir de façon informelle avec les auditeurs).
Le sujet devrait être relié au thème de la conférence et à au moins un des éléments suivants en littérature de jeunesse : handicap, PANDC (Personnes autochtones, noires, de couleur), personnes migrantes, immigrantes et réfugiées et citoyenneté, santé mentale, genre- sexes- sexualité et durabilité.

Les conférenciers vont se joindre à une gamme de conférenciers principaux de prestige, parmi lesquels l’auteur et illustrateur Sydney Smith, le lauréat du Prix Hans Christian Andersen 2024 en illustration, l’auteur David A. Robertson, le candidat d’IBBY Canada en nomination pour le Prix Hans Christian Andersen de 2026, Khodi Dill, auteur, éducateur antiracisme et artiste de création orale, Evelyn Arizpe, professeure de littérature de jeunesse à l’Université de Glasgow, Fikile Nxumalo, professeure associée à l’Institut d’études en éducation à l’Université de Toronto et Hasmig Chahinian du Centre national de la littérature pour la jeunesse à la Bibliothèque nationale de France.
Le 40e Congrès mondial IBBY se tiendra à Ottawa, Ontario du 6 au 9 août 2026.
