BIOGRAPHY
Jamesie Fournier enjoys exploring his culture through writing. Born and raised in Denendeh, Jamesie lives and works in Iqaluit, NU. His debut horror, The Other Ones, published with Inhabit Media, won silver at the 2022 Independent Publisher Book Awards and is currently being made into an animated short. His poetry collection, Elements, was shortlisted for the 2024 Indigenous Voices Award and won the 2024 NorthWords Book Award. Fournier’s writing has been published in various magazines, anthologies, and the edited volumes Coming Home: Stories from the Northwest Territories and Ndè Sı̀ı̀ Wet’aɂà: Northern Indigenous Voices on Land, Life & Art.
Jamiesie was part of the 2024 Audible Indigenous Writer’s Circle, the 2024 NBC Universal Indigenous Screenwriting Program, and spoke at the 2024 Inuit Art Symposium. Lemming's First Christmas
Explore the holiday season and help Lemming find an Xmas tree!
Target Audience: Kindergarten - Grade 6

Join Inuit author Jamesie Fournier as he shares his picture book, Lemming’s First Christmas! Learn the Inuktitut names of the Arctic animals as they work together to help Avinngaq (Lemming) find a tree in the Canadian Arctic. Share stories and culture as we colour and listen to Inuit music about the holiday season!

Participants investigate identity, perspective, expression as Jamesie shares how our voices help us process our everyday lives. When visual images juxtapose written words, unique messages emerge that empower our own sense of self.

Explore climate change from a Northern Inuit perspective!

Join Inuit author Jamesie Fournier as he shares Luci’s Lesson!, a children’s story from an Inuit point of view dealing with climate change. Climate change affects our daily lives wherever we are – learn basic concepts, alternative energies, and the reasons why they are important. Complete activities, share stories, and follow along as Luci shares the valuable lessons she has learned.
