BIOGRAPHY

Ginalina is an acclaimed author and 4x Juno nominee and Canadian Folk Music Award winner. Named "the brightest star in the world of family folk music" by the Vancouver International Children's Festival, her nature-themed book trilogy and collection of Asian-Canadian cultural heritage stories have been featured by Science World, Canada Geographic Magazine, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre in Vancouver, schools across Canada, and transliterated into braille and textile images (The Mighty River). A second generation Canada with roots in the verdant and monsoon-y island of Taiwan, she writes and sings in English, French, and English. Her work celebrate the interconnectedness between family, nature, community, and culture. Her songs, stories, author visits, and workshops are respectful and real, warm and winsome, emotive and energizing. Ginalina believes in the creative, unifying, and healing power of singing, dancing, reading, and growing together through songs, stories, and the arts.

NOTE: The fee of $300 (plus tax) will be paid to The Canadian Children's Book Centre (CCBC) upon receipt of an invoice from the CCBC. After Book Week, the CCBC will pay the author their presentation fee of $250 (plus taxes, if applicable).

*Priority will be given to schools/libraries who would like presentations given in French or in a bilingual format where the majority of the content is in French.

Explore nature through songs and stories and movement!  Play new musical instruments, look for hidden creatures, move like forest animals, sing about life cycles and parts of a tree! Ginalina brings her award-winning and Canadian Geographic magazine recommended books and Canadian Folk Music Award nominated albums to inspire, entertain, educate, and uplift every child!  This presentation will include a time to brainstorm how we can help protect the earth and the value that we have in making this world a better place!

Explore culture through books and folk songs from Canada, Korea, Estonia, Benin, France, China, and beyond. Through rhythms, words, music, and stories, we can discover more about ourselves and our friends! Ginalina brings her celebrated Asian-Canadian book set and Canadian Folk Music Award winning album to inspire, entertain, educate, and uplift every child! This presentation will include a time to celebrate connections to our cultures and the value of diverse community!
