FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (February 17, 2025)—Every year, IBBY Canada presents the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award to a Canadian illustrator in recognition of outstanding artistic talent in a Canadian picture book.

Selected from 131 books submitted by 36 publishers, the illustrators of the 10 finalist books depict stories that add to our understanding of the world around us. Whether through naturea, culture or imagination. The illustrations range from whimsical and delicate to rich brushwork to bold graphic elements, and are sure to engage and inspire their readers.

The 10 finalists for the 2024 Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award are:

The Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award is administered by a committee of three members of the Canadian section of the International Board on Books for Young People.

The winner will be announced at the IBBY Canada Annual Meeting of Members on April 26, 2025. All are invited to attend. Details for the virtual meeting will be available on IBBY Canada social media the week of April 7th, 2025.

IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young People, was founded in 1953. It is a network of organizations in 85 countries committed to bringing books and children together.

IBBY Canada, established in 1980, is a volunteer organization promoting quality French and English Canadian children’s literature nationally and internationally.

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE : (le 17 février 2025)—Chaque année, IBBY Canada présente le Prix Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver pour un album illustré canadien à un illustrateur canadien en reconnaissance de son talent artistique remarquable pour un album illustré.

Sélectionnés parmi 131 livres soumis par 36 éditeurs, les illustrateurs des 10 livres finalistes représentent des histoires qui ajoutent à notre compréhension du monde autour de nous. Que ce soit à travers la nature, la culture ou l’imagination. Les illustrations se déclinent avec fantaisie et délicatesse jusqu’à des coups de pinceaux riches et des éléments graphiques importants, ces illustrations ne manqueront pas de rejoindre et d’inspirer leurs lecteurs.
