Tour for Canadian Children’s Book Week
Promote your work and see the difference reading makes.
Our touring creators speak to audiences across Canada, showing young readers the personal side of Canadian children’s literature.
These events allow authors, illustrators, and storytellers to help foster an interest in reading amongst Canadian children, while also giving creators a chance to show their work to a new audience.
These workshops and presentations can be a turning point in a child’s life, inspiring a lifelong love of reading. This is especially true of remote communities that would not otherwise have access to creative opportunities.

28,000
Each year, Canadian Children’s Book Week reaches more than 28,000 youth.
236
In 2022, we held 236 virtual presentations.
Here’s what educators are saying about Book Week:
“Emma FitzGerald's drawing and storytelling workshop was well received from the participants. The kids were engaged, asked and answered questions and they developed more confidence in drawing, showing their drawings, and explaining their drawings to the other members of the group. One young boy, who wouldn't make eye contact at the beginning of the program, was proudly discussing his drawing with the group by the end.”
“Was able to reach a number of kids interested in illustration and art in a way that is not offered in the community–for example kids made drawings of trees using some techniques that Todd showed them during their presentation. Made the kids that don’t play hockey or sports in this small town feel seen and appreciated for their talents.”
“Students were fully engaged and interested during the presentation. They loved seeing John's art studio and drawing pens. They really enjoyed following along with John to draw characters using simple shapes! It was a different way of having a presentation (via ZOOM) but it was just as effective as if John were here in person. Well done! We also welcome virtual events as it would be costly to bring someone to our small town.”

Authors and illustrators who participate in the Book Week tour get the opportunity to visit schools and libraries locally, regionally, nationally, as well as virtually. It’s a great chance to network with with educators who might ask you back in the future, and showcase your work to more young readers.
