Why Donate
Our mission is to foster a lifelong love of reading by bringing Canadian books and young readers together. We are a not-for-profit organization, which means we rely on the support of the public to continue our operations. Any donations you provide will play an essential part in our ability to support young readers across Canada.
We bring Canadian children’s authors and illustrators into the classroom.
We put a book in the hands of over 550,000 Canadian first-grade children each year.
We develop resources for teachers and librarians, helping them bring more Canadian content into the classroom.
We support authors and illustrators in their creative endeavours through our book awards and publications.
Your donations support our far-reaching programs and services, helping us achieve these important goals:
Giving books to children.
We ensure every Grade 1 child in Canada gets a free picture book to take home through the TD Grade One Book Giveaway.
Supporting creators.
We administer nine literary awards, host national tours, and use our digital platforms to give creators the ability to keep making quality work.
Helping the helpers.
We provide free resources to parents, caregivers, educators, and librarians, so that they have the tools to keep Canada’s youth interested in reading—whether it’s through online materials, or in-person programs.
Reaching children in remote areas.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to grow their love of reading. Canadian Children’s Book Week sends creators across Canada to inspire young readers and writers, including those in remote communities.
