Finalists Announced for the 25th QWF Literary Awards
The Quebec Writers’ Federation (QWF) has announced the shortlists for the six book prizes of the 25th QWF Literary Awards, including the Janet Savage Blachford Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature.
The winners of these six prestigious prizes will be announced at the QWF Literary Awards Gala on Monday, November 13 at Cabaret Lion d’Or. The ceremony begins at 8:00 p.m., preceded by a cocktail reception from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Each book award comes with a $3,000 cash prize.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of QWF and the QWF Literary Awards, a milestone commemorated by QWF’s ongoing campaign called Writing Matters, highlighting writers’ contributions to not only our culture but also our economy.
Building off the theme of the campaign, the theme for the gala is Hats Off to QWF: Celebrating 25 Years of Writing Matters. Attendees are invited to get in the spirit of the theme by wearing their fanciest (or wackiest) piece of headgear, be it a beret, fedora, or top hat.
The finalists for the Janet Savage Blachford Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature are:
A Boy Is Not a Ghost by Edeet Ravel (Groundwood Books)
Captain Skidmark Dances with Destiny by Jennifer A. Irwin (Charlesbridge)
Witches of Brooklyn: S’More Magic by Sophie Escabasse (RH Graphic)
