The Canadian Children’s Book Centre is proud to announce that the finalists for the 2009 TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award will take part in this year’s International Festival of Authors (IFOA) at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto on Saturday, October 24. The winner of the Award will receive a cash prize of $25,000 on November 19 at a by-invitation-only celebration in Toronto.
The first two events are part of the Young IFOA series.
11 am. Nicola Campbell, author of Shin-chi’s Canoe, published by Groundwood Books and Cary Fagan, author of Thing-Thing, published by Tundra Books, will read and answer questions in the Studio Theatre.
1 pm. Alma Fullerton, author of Libertad, published by Fitzhenry & Whiteside, Susin Nielson, author of Word Nerd and Shane Peacock, author of Death in the Air, both published by Tundra Books, will read and answer questions in the Studio Theatre.
4 pm. TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award Round Table: “All Play and No Work – The Art of Creating Books for Children and Young Adults”. This will be a panel discussion in the Studio Theatre, featuring Nicola Campbell, Cary Fagan, Alma Fullerton, Susin Nielson and Shane Peacock. The moderator will be Ken Setterington, Child and Youth Advocate, Toronto Public Library.
