Little Black Heroes
In this workshop, I will share an oral reading of my book, Little Black Lives Matter. Students will learn a little bit about the history and importance of the Black Lives Matter movement, and then will have a chance to research a Black hero of their choice. Students will use what they learned to become writers themselves and create their very own rhyming couplet about that person.
Rapper’s Delight
This workshop includes and introduction to rap music for young people, where they will get to engage with the art form and experiment with their very own hip-hop cypher. I will also include a reading from my book, Welcome to the Cypher.
