The Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 1-2:30 pm EDT. Join us for a year in review, learn about our current programming for 2024 and meet our incoming board members. Members* in good standing and the public are welcome to attend.
This year’s AGM will feature special guest Dr. Beverley Brenna. Bev is the lead consultant on the CCBC’s Growing Literacy project, as well as a freelance writer and editor. She has a background in education as a classroom and special education teacher and also contributed to the field as a researcher and faculty member in curriculum/literacy at the University of Saskatchewan. With Bev’s guidance, the CCBC conducted research with educators on their needs for supporting young readers. Bev will share findings from that research and discuss how using Canadian children’s books in the classroom and at home can address literacy challenges and engage students.
