Winners announced for 2018 Vine Awards for Canadian Jewish Literature

The winners of the 2018 Vine Awards for Canadian Jewish Literature have been announced. Each writer will receive $10,000.

The Winner for the Children’s/Young Adult Category is:
Rare is Everywhere, Deborah Katz (Miss Bird Books)

Rare Is Everywhere takes readers on a journey through the animal kingdom, revealing that grasshoppers can be pink, tigers can be white, and lobsters can be blue.

Showcasing eleven incredible animals through vibrant illustrations and playful poetry, the book skillfully blends science with art to show readers that uniqueness is something to be celebrated – and that rare, is in fact, everywhere!

This year’s jury consisted of health writer Beverley Chalmers, novelist and writing instructor Joseph Kertes, and poet, author, and critic Lee Maracle.
