Schedule for the 2020 FOLD Kids Book Fest Releases on September 2

The schedule for the 2020 FOLD Kids Book Fest will be released, and registration will open, at 11am on Wednesday, September 2.

This year’s festival—the second FOLD Kids Book Fest and the FOLD’s first virtual children’s festival— will feature such luminaries as Buffy Sainte Marie, David A. Robertson, Jillian Tamaki, and Danielle Murrell Cox, among many others. The virtual festival includes thirteen events spanning October 3 and 4, as well as three preview events taking place on September 26, October 1, and October 2. All events are free to attend, and registration can be completed through the FOLD website at http://thefoldcanada.org/kids/kids.

NEW FOR 2020: As part of the FOLD’s festival partnership with Another Story Bookshop, and in partnership with Simon & Schuster Canada, any books by FOLD Kids 2020 authors purchased through the Another Story Bookshop website between September 2 and October 4 will include free shipping anywhere in Canada. FOLD book mailers will also include the FOLD Program, with original poetry by kids across Canada, FOLD stickers, buttons, and other surprise goodies. The free shipping period will end at 11:59pm on October 4, 2020.

The FOLD is pleased to acknowledge the following organizations, who have sponsored the 2020 FOLD Kids Book Fest and have been instrumental in shaping this year’s festival: the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Creates, Penguin Random House Canada, Simon & Schuster Canada, Orca Books, and Scholastic Canada.

“There are voices that are underrepresented in publishing and at our festival, but the collection of authors we have at FOLD Kids Book Fest 2020 this year makes me incredibly excited as I think about the people and places young people, families, and educators will get to know.” – Jael Richardson, Executive Director

“I have thoroughly enjoyed programming this lineup with the FOLD team and look forward to reaching a larger audience as a virtual festival. This is a festival built with kids and young people in mind, offering them an opportunity to engage with the people behind the scenes.” – Ardo Omer, FOLD Kids Coordinator
