It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pat Hancock on August 21, 2022. Born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1946, Pat grew up loving to read. This passion initially led her to become an English and Science teacher at Cathedral Girls in Hamilton and then at De La Salle in Toronto. Pat became a stay-at-home mom to her three children and during that time began her successful career as an author of children’s stories and books. She was the president of CANSCAIP from 1991-93. Pat lived in the same house for 48 years, and loved her street and loved her neighbours. She is survived by her husband, Ronald; children, Katharine, Jennifer and Michael; sister, Michelle; and grandchildren, Owen, Leah and Keira. She was predeceased by siblings, Peter and Sister Kathleen. Special thanks to the incredible staff at the Sunnybrook D4 ICU. A casual memorial luncheon was held on September 17, at The Granite Brewery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Children’s Book Bank or Fighting Blindness Canada.
