Morgan Dumas, Intern Extraordinaire, Reports from the Field

Interning at the Canadian Children’s Book Centre has been an incredibly educational and an enjoyable experience. Everyone at the Book Centre is fantastic and I could tell on the first day I came through the door, they all shared the same passion and drive to support and promote Canadian children’s literature, authors and illustrators.

All of the staff is very inclusive and made special consideration to include me in staff meetings – supporting and encouraging my ideas; provided many different tasks for me to complete – most of which related to sales and marketing projects for the book centre; and were always available to answer my questions.

My favorite part of interning at the Canadian Children’s Book Centre was spending the entire day with this group of like-minded people who felt the same way I do about Children’s literature and being able to share my admiration for the incredible Children’s literature written and illustrated in Canada. It also didn’t hurt to be surrounded by so many wonderful Canadian children’s books and some of the most beautiful Canadian children’s book illustrations I had ever seen that adorn the walls of the book centre.

I am appreciative for this opportunity because the lessons and skills I have learned here are so valuable and will assist me as I embark on my future career path. I now truly understand what a significant and important role the Canadian Children Book Centre plays within the Canada’s children’s book industry!
