About Mabel’s Fables
Founded in 1988, by sisters Eleanor LeFave and Susan McCulloch, Mabel’s Fables is Toronto’s oldest, and most beloved children’s bookstore. Winner of multiple Libris awards, Mabel’s Fables has been a celebrated business and community hub for 30 years. Located on Mt. Pleasant, a street of independent retailers in Toronto’s mid-town, Mabel’s offers a curated selection on two floors of the very best in books, games, puzzles, and gifts. Known for their staff’s expertise, in store classes for all ages, and signature gift baskets for newborns and special occasions, Mabel’s has endured as one of the oldest independent bookstores in the city. Mabel’s works closely with schools in the area and as far as the Wikwemikong First Nation. The store was given one of the original stone Lovebots for it’s “Angel Program” which allows customers to purchase books during the holidays for children who would not receive books otherwise. The store then wraps them and delivers them to different organizations around the city. Mabel’s Fables is probably best known for Mabel, the store cat who suns herself in the window every morning, and has been present for every story time.
