The Children’s Literature Roundtables of Canada have selected Loon by Susan Vande Griek with illustrations by Karen Reczuch (Groundwood Books), as the winner of the 2012 Information Book Award. Beyond Bullets: A Photo Journal of Afghanistan by Rafal Geresak and Dawn Hunter (Annick Press), and Biomimicry: Inventions Inspired by Nature by Dora Lee and Margot Thompson (Kids Can Press) are this year’s honour books.

The 2012 Information Book Award of $1000 will be presented in Vancouver on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at Vancouver Childrenʼs Literature Breakfast Event featuring author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers.

The other two finalists are Kamakwie: Finding Peace, Love, and Injustice in Sierra Leone by Kathleen Martin (Red Deer Press) and A Walk on the Tundra by Rebecca Hainnu, Anna Ziegler and Qin Leng (Inhabit Media).
