Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the TD Grade One Book Giveaway. In the 20 years since it started, the program has distributed approximately 10 million books to grade one students across the country. The first students to receive a giveaway book through the program are now 25 years old, and some might even be teachers of grade ones themselves. For many children, the first book they ever owned was the TD Grade One Book Giveaway title.
For the 20th anniversary of this program, we want your help in choosing the 2020 title. We’re looking for a Canadian picture book that is considered a classic and will appeal just as much to children today as it did when it was first published. The author, illustrator and publisher of the selected title must be Canadian. Let us know what you think the 2020 title should be on social media or by filling out the survey here.
The deadline to participate is November 19, 2019. Afterwards, the CCBC will review the submitted titles with our considerations in mind (reading level, page count, etc.) Afterwards, we will consult with a committee of educators before finalizing the title.
