January 11, 2015 marks what would have been Sir John A. Macdonald’s 200th birthday. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Macdonald’s family immigrated to Kingston (in Upper Canada) in 1820. A lawyer by trade, Sir John A. Macdonald became known as Canada’s Father of Confederation and was the first Prime Minister of Canada.
