International Children’s Publishing Phenomenon Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Bonus Material and Enhanced eBook Edition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TORONTO (January 10, 2012) – Second Story Press is proud to announce a 10th anniversary edition of Canada’s most awarded children’s book of all time: Hana’s Suitcase Anniversary Album. With 56 pages of additional material – including artwork and writing by children inspired by the book, and updates from author Karen Levine; Hana’s brother, George Brady; and Fumiko Ishioka, the woman who searched the world to uncover the story of the suitcase – Hana’s Suitcase Anniversary Album presents this extraordinary true story to a new generation of young readers. Published on Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Anniversary Album will also be available as an enhanced eBook via the iBookstore.
Written by journalist and broadcaster Karen Levine, Hana Brady’s story became an international sensation when it first arrived in book form in 2002. The book has since been published in 40 countries and 29 languages, and has spawned many stage and screen adaptations around the world.
“We always knew that Hana’s Suitcase was a unique and powerful story, but never dreamed what a phenomenon it would become,” said Margie Wolfe, Publisher and President of Second Story Press. “This special anniversary edition allows us to pull together the worldwide experiences inspired by Hana’s story.”
Additional material includes memories from Hana’s childhood neighbours; images from the book’s foreign editions and stage and screen adaptations throughout the world; letters from children, parents and teachers; and a CD of the original CBC radio documentary and a commemorative song recorded by school children. An enhanced eBook featuring audio and video clips from the CBC TV documentary will also be available.
