This Halloween Three Tundra Books Come to Life at Mississauga’s Celebration Square

This fall, Tundra Books, a division of Penguin Random House Canada, is partnering with Celebration Square and the City of Mississauga to bring three of our Halloween titles to life in the large-scale installation HALLOWEEN MONSTER TALES.

From October 22-31st, visitors to Celebration Square can step inside the worlds of THE BARNABUS PROJECT, BOB’S HUNGRY GHOST and MONSTERS 101. The space will be divided into three zones, each one inspired by one of the three titles, featuring interactive photo boxes, ground decals, soundscapes, audio and video clips featuring the creators, scavenger hunts and more, perfect for families looking for safe, socially distant outdoor Halloween fun!

The Barnabus Project – Terry, Eric, and Devin Fan

One of our most acclaimed recent picture books is the latest creation of the acclaimed Fan Brothers (Terry and Eric, now with the added value of a third brother, Devin), who have worked on Ocean Meets Sky, The Night Gardener, and more. In a world built for Perfect Pets, Barnabus is a Failed Project – half mouse, half elephant – kept out of sight until his dreams of freedom lead him and his misfit friends on a perilous adventure. A stunning, touching picture book with messages of self-acceptance that reads like Toy Storyre-cast with the Island of Misfit Toys. The book has been shortlisted for the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, was an Amazon.com and Kirkus Reviews Best Picture book of the Year, and won the 2020 Governor General’s Literary Award for Children’s Illustrated Text.

Monsters 101 – Cale Atkinson

Author-illustrator Cale Atkinson and his team of fearsome professors as they share everything you ever wanted to know about monsters (and even some stuff you didn’t want to know). For instance, did you know Monsters love competitive board game nights? Full of eye-popping illustrations and a story with nonstop sidesplitting laughs, plus a removable Professor of Monstrology diploma at the end of the book, Monsters 101 will have children eager to enroll, time and time again!

Bob’s Hungry Ghost – Geneviève Côté

Find out what happens when you want a dog for your birthday, but get a ghost (!) instead. Unfortunately, this ghost Fluffy doesn’t fetch, sit or go for walks. But he does eat everything, and soon all of Bob’s things and even Bob himself end up in Fluffy’s belly. Will Bob find a way to tame his unruly and very hungry ghost? Everyone will want a ghost for their birthday after reading this book.
