The Guadalajara International Book Fair is currently looking for Canadian illustrators to participate in their children’s programming. The Book Fair will take place from November 28 to December 6, 2015. The programming includes the following activities:
- Salón de los Ilustradores (Illustrators’ room): a space for activities for the general public, with one every hour from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The purpose is to connect readers and illustrators through brief activities. Illustrators can develop a quick workshop or another activity that engages the public. Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29
- FILustra (Illustrators’ forum): For illustrators with experience in the publishing industry. There will be a master class, round tables and dialogues to cover specific topics around the profession. The audience will consist of around 150 illustrators (not open to general public). Sunday, November 29 and Monday, December 1
- Workshop (for illustrators with experience): A specialized workshop for a group of 25 experienced illustrators. An opportunity to share experience and technique with other illustrators. December 1, 2 & 3; 4 hours per day
Illustrators who have participated in previous years: Jutta Bauer (Germany), Katsumi Komagata (Japan), Isol (Argentina), Anthony Browne (UK), Suzy Lee (Korea), Gabriel Pacheco (Mexico), Isidro Ferrer (Spain), Mélanie Watt (Canada), Jimmy Liao (Taiwan).
The Book Fair will provide 3 nights’ accommodation, meals (non–alcoholic beverages) and transportation from and to the airport. Airfare is not covered. There will also be networking events and opportunities with publishers, agents and authors at the Book Fair.
