It is with deep sadness that we announce that passing of Canadian children’s author Dette Hunter. She passed away on March 10, 2013 of acute myeloid leukemia. Born in Utica, New York, Dette became a Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone (1965-1967). It was here where she met and married her Canadian husband, John Hunter. In the 1980s, Dette and fellow children’s author Jocelyn Shipley started Traditions Press – a publishing company based in Newmarket, Ontario, dedicated to publishing books for children and parents. Dette went on to publish three books with Annick Press – 38 Ways to Entertain Your Grandparents, 38 Ways to Entertain Your Babysitter and 38 Ways to Entertain Your Parents on Summer Vacation.
