Dear CCBC Member,
This is to formally announce and confirm what many have heard. Charlotte Teeple has decided to retire from the position of Executive Director of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre at the end of 2018.
Charlotte has been at the helm of the CCBC for 22 years. Under her leadership, the CCBC has gone from an annual budget of $250,000 to $2.0 million, with one full-time and one part-time staff to four full-time and two part-time staff organizing a diverse range of programs and services in English and French across Canada — most notably book awards to authors and illustrators, the TD Canadian Children’s Book Week touring program, and the TD Grade One Book Giveaway program, just to mention a few.
After a lifetime of organizing large events and celebrating excellence and creativity, Charlotte has requested no fanfare for her departure.
The CCBC board is currently developing a position profile for the search for the next Executive Director who will lead the organization in its continuing evolution and development. The profile will be available on the CCBC website on September 28, at which point advertising and outreach will begin.
