Toronto, ON (March 18, 2011) Wizard Hat Productions, a global independent family entertainment company, is producing an animated TV show based on the popular Chicken, Pig, Cow books by Ruth Ohi. The series will be targeted at pre-schoolers and will feature the comic adventures of three plasticine animals who live in a Popsicle® stick barn at Girl’s house. First published by Annick Press in 2008, Chicken, Pig, Cow became an instant hit with parents, teachers, and pre-schoolers. There are now four books in the series with more to come.
The gentle stories about the adventures of the three friends are delivered via a simple, spare text and expressive watercolor illustrations full of energy, humor, and warmth. Whether it’s Cow accepting how she looks, Chicken learning to welcome an outsider, or all three animals realizing that what they have may be better than what they want, each story carries a subtle message about friendship, acceptance, and working together.

Ruth Ohi has illustrated over 40 picture books including 10 which she has written herself. She is a tireless presenter at schools and libraries where she encourages children to try their own hand at illustration. She lives with her family in Toronto.
