Adopt an Author at WOTS Toronto!

Every year The Word On The Street Toronto invites you to get more involved in the literary community by adopting your very own author. Just imagine: You walk into Queen’s Park on Sunday, September 26 and you can actually say “Ya, I adopted Yann Martel” or “You know Kenneth Oppel? He’s here because of me.” We want to give you that glory. We want to give you the opportunity to adopt each and every author that is attending our 21st festival this year. And it is quite the list.

We have some of the best authors in Canada appearing at our festival this year. They are scheduled to give readings, lead seminars, sign copies of their books, and almost all are available for adoption. By participating in Adopt an Author, you could be one of the few people recognized as a supporter of the author’s presence at the festival.

This program is a project of The Word On The Street Canada in co-operation with The Word On The Street Toronto. Your donation will go towards the support of the festival’s mission to celebrate Canadian reading and writing, and advocate literacy. Please help us continue this great literary tradition with a donation today!

How it works
It’s simple. For a $100 contribution, an author will be yours. In recognition of your donation you will receive:

  • A tax receipt for your charitable donation
  • Meet your author and get a signed copy of your author’s book
  • Your name announced at your author’s reading
  • A personalized certificate
  • Acknowledgement on The Word On The Street Toronto’s website
  • A chance to be a part of Canada’s largest one-day literary festival!

You can adopt as many authors as you like, and each author can be adopted up to two times. It makes a great gift for your friends, families or for yourself! Companies can also take part in the program; it makes a unique corporate gift.

The deadline to adopt is Wednesday, September 22, 2010.
