The IODE Jean Throop Book Award is given annually to the author and/or illustrator of the best children’s book published in the current year.
This award and cash prize of $2,000 is given to a Canadian author and/or illustrator who reside in Ontario.
- Fiction, non-fiction and picture books aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 8 are eligible.
- Authors and illustrators must be Canadian citizens who reside in Ontario.
- Books must have been published in Canada between January 1 and December 31, 2016.
Books are judged by a committee of IODE members with the assistance of a librarian from the Toronto Public Library.
The award will be presented at the IODE Ontario Annual Meeting to be held in the spring of 2017 (details TBA).
Deadline for entries is December 1, 2016.
