Writing for Children Competition

Given by CANSCAIP in partnership with the Writers’ Union of Canada, this annual award was initiated to discover, encourage, and promote new writers of children’s literature. The competition is open to Canadian authors not previously published in book format and who do not currently have a contract with a publisher. Entries must be text only, up to 1500 words in length and accompanied by an entry fee ($30 for one writing submission, $50 for two submissions and $75 for three submissions). There are two cash prizes of $1,000(picture book/early reader and chapter book/middle grade/young adult).
